The largest solar power plant in Europe

Helioclim is proud to unveil the timelapse of the largest solar cooling installation in Europe!
This exceptional achievement includes 240 Heliolight4800 concentrated solar collectors combined with a MAM250 absorption chiller.
Together, they form an innovative system producing fully decarbonized heating and cooling for a pharmaceutical plant, drastically reducing natural gas consumption for heating and electricity use for cooling production.

  • Usage: tertiary industry – heating and powering a solar cooling machine

For this project, the rooftop field produces both cooling and heating thanks to an absorption chiller.

The extreme conditions

This solar field, installed on Réunion Island, features tropicalized collectors adapted to the local climate. The field withstood Tropical Cyclone Garance, which struck Réunion in March 2025, without any damage.

Cyclone Garance brought winds exceeding 215 km/h and heavy rainfall.

This high-tech equipment will allow us to perform welds on stainless steel exchangers and tanks, handling tube lengths up to 4 m and diameters up to 700 mm.

Solar field and MAM installed

For this project, the installed solar field produces decarbonized cooling and heating thanks to a MAM 250.

Part of the solar field’s power also supplies the boiler system.

This is the largest solar cooling installation in Europe.

This solar field, installed near our Cannes factory, was built to serve several purposes:

  • Certification: it is currently the solar field used for Solar Keymark certification.
  • R&D: outside of certification testing periods, new components can be tested and validated on this field.
  • Demonstration: the field showcases our technology under real operating conditions to clients and agencies. For example, it was visited by the International Energy Agency in June 2023 as part of the IEA Solar Heating program.
